The Internet has radically changed our approach to depth, information, social relationships, markets and culture. We listen to music in new digital formats, we photograph the world through the small lens of our mobile phones. We don’t read newspapers anymore, preferring random information that bounces off the social profiles of our “friends”. We have fallen in love with Ikea kitchens and Banksy’s graffiti, new low-resolution artefacts that fill our lives today. This book investigates the relationships between similar diminutive choices and the changes in connected society. Often, the signs of a new intelligence can be glimpsed precisely in these choices; at other times they briefly describe our usual superficiality. In the low technological resolution, real time overwhelms the archive. The Internet, a place of documentality, is transformed into the space in which everything will be quickly forgotten.
