The number of musical compositions based on the 7 notes is finite. Does this statement apply also to video games? Is there a finite number of game mechanics? Does the language developed for this art form limit its expressive possibilities? In a market where the space to shine gets smaller by the hour and the number of developers grows exponentially, it is important to question which direction should be taken. The goal of this keynote is to provide alternative starting points and approaches to the development of the games yet to come, with a particular focus on those niches that have the potential to become mainstream.
