The first commercial offers for 5G communication are expected in 2020. However, pre-commercial trials are planned worldwide before that date. In this scenario, in order to implement EC Communication 2016/588, the “5G Action Plan”, by 2020, the Ministry of Economic Development, issued a public notice on 16 March 2017 opening the procedure for the acquisition of project proposals for the realization of pre-commercial experiments in the 3.6 – 3.8 Ghz radio spectrum. The workshop aims to provide an overview of the Italian 5G experimentation and describe the main applications of 5G and its impact on the Internet.
